Natus Vincere got their BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen campaign off to a great start as they beat Liquid with a great performance from Denis "electroNic" Sharipov.
The Russian youngster racked up 38 frags and averaged over 140 damage per round to help Natus Vincere to pick up a surprising victory over the current No.4 team in the world in their first match in the Danish capital. The CIS team made some grave mistakes throughout the game, especially in the first half, but battled black bravely to show that talk of crisis after the early StarSeries exit is a bit premature.
Liquid were put on the back foot during the early stages of the game and had to recover from a 0-4 deficit after Natus Vincere took the pistol round off the back of a trio of kills from electroNic. The North Americans then put together a string of rounds to bring the deficit to a minimum following some multi-kills from Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, who by now was sitting on 10 frags already.
Na`Vi had a hard time to contain the pressure for the remainder of the half, and the rounds that they won were few and far between. They still managed to end the half down by just one round, but the scoreline could have been much different had they not shockingly let two 2v5 situations slip.
Liquid further added to their lead after an impressive B retake in the pistol round, and rode that momentum to a 13-7 lead. And that was when the electroNic show truly began. The 21-year-old came up huge when it mattered the most, picking up an ace in an anti-eco round that almost went sideways and pulling off a key flank as Liquid were starting to come back into the game, to push his side across the finish line in a nail-biting opener at the Royal Arena.
